myself getting emotional. 2011 has been especially exciting for us.
We captured 25 wedding stories from a variety of cultures with amazing
couples at beautiful locations! We built our own custom home with a fantastic studio space and consultation room that is separate from our family space.
We met and booked with 15 fabulous couples who will be wed in 2012 and
have a handful of spots still open. We travelled to New York City and
Miami and Brian also went to London, England (one day we hope to go back there
and experience Britain together).

<span style="font-size:13.0pt;font-family:Arial;mso-bidi-font-family:

Mel + Danny | Their story in pictures

I have been meaning to get some images from Melanie and Danny's April wedding up for a few weeks now, but just haven't found enough hours in the day lately. I chose a few of my favourites from their wedding story - one of the hardest parts of what I do is choosing just a few images for the blog out of thousands from the day! I know that my favourites aren't necessarily going to be the ones the bride and groom love most but I'm okay with that. I also choose to only post a limited number of images here on our blog because there are many photos of special moments from the day that I want my couples to see first before I post them here for everyone else to see. Melanie and Danny's wedding day was chocked full of fun and the weather was beautiful. I wish them a lifetime of joy and happily ever after !

their decor colours included dark purple and granny smith apple green ...
Radiant Love | May + Flavio

When we first met with May and Flavio we could immediately see the special connection between them. They are beautiful people inside and out. I love the part in their fairytale where May's best friend and Maid of Honour surprised her with a trip to Kleinfeld's in NYC where she said "yes to the (very first) dress" she tried on! When she walked down the isle on her father's arm she was truly radiant. I also loved their reveal and how emotional they both were when they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. Their SDE song was something they both envisioned as the soundtrack for their wedding story. It has special meaning to them and we hope it will always remind them of May 21, 2011 - the day their new life began! Love and happiness for a lifetime!

.........

It was a pleasure shooting with Jimmy Bender of Green Autumn Photography and working with Kimberly Fu of Envision Weddings

Music: Strawberry Swing by Coldplay available on iTunes

Hot in the Mayan | Tiff + John

Not many couples would consider waking up before dawn on their honeymoon, but we were so excited when Tiffany and John agreed to meet us before sunrise by the salt pool at our resort for a photo session. There is nothing more beautiful than the light at dawn. It's soft and sexy and I love the way it dances on the water and on the skin painting everything with a soft orange. When Tiffany and John had asked us about shooting a Trash the Dress session while we were in Mexico we couldn't wait to see what was in store. We weren't sure if we'd travel off the resort or if we'd just take advantage of our local surroundings. When we saw how incredible the sunrises were over the salt pool we knew it would be a great location. We love the way these two are so comfortable with each other and in front of the cameras. Although this is different than any other trash the dress we have done in the past we love the imagery and felt this song was so fitting. We hope they love it as much as we do!
..........

Music: Adele - Lovesong available on iTunes

Diana + Carson | a million little details

Diana first contacted us back in January after finding us on Style Me Pretty. When I met with her and Carson the very next day I was overwhelmed by her bubbly, enthusiastic personality. She is a personal life coach, full of inspiration and motivation and one of the most positive people I've ever met. She explained that she is the dreamer and Carson is all about the numbers and spreadsheets. Together they make an incredible team. A few weeks after that initial meeting they came to visit and brought a large Tiffany Blue Box full of items to explain their proposal story. Separately, each not able to hear what the other said, we recorded them talking about the proposal and as you can tell by the intro piece they literally finish each other's sentences even when they are apart. In a couple of months from now Diana and Carson are having a second wedding in Hong Kong and they requested a shorter feature film to share with all their guests there. They felt 3-4 minutes (a typical highlight) would be too short and a 20 minute (standard) feature film would be a bit too long. So we created a special hybrid package for them. We absolutely love the end result. From the vibrant colours of their day, their two tea ceremonies, the Chinese door games, their macaroon wedding cake and all the inspirational quotes that filled the table tops at their reception at the Paramount combined to make it so uniquely them. Watching their film makes me so happy. We proudly present Diana and Carson's (Canadian) Wedding Story. We wish them a wonderful second wedding in Hong Kong and a lifetime of happiness and joy!
................

Go Karts, a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a scavenger hunt were just a few of the fun elements that made Melanie and Danny's wedding story uniquely them. These two laugh more together than any other couple I've known... well, except for Dawn and Steven, their best friends. You'll recall Dawn and Steven's wedding from last November, affectionately referred to as the Jabbawocceez wedding. Danny is Steven's best friend, he was one of the dancers that night. Melanie and Dawn have been best friends for many years. Brian and I felt like family yesterday hanging out with so many amazingly warm people. For months now we have been hoping that the Go Karts would open just one day early so Mel and Danny and their wedding party could have some fun racing around the track and they got their wish. What a beautiful day... a fantastic story... we love their Same Day Edit! Full post of photos coming soon.
..............

Music: Waiting on the Light To Change by Matthew Perryman Jones

Tiffany + John | Married in the Mayan Riviera

We just returned last night from a fabulous week in sunny Mexico. We had the great pleasure of capturing Tiff and John's wedding celebration while we were there and spent the week relaxing and hanging out with their fantastic group of friends and family. Brian and I really wanted to share with them their wedding day highlights while we were still in Mexico so we put together this clip and on Friday night at La Laguna pool bar we unveiled it to raving reviews. Much like the same day edit experience, it's so nice when a couple has the chance to re-live their wedding day story while surrounded by their family and friends.
Brian shot this entire wedding by himself while I was capturing photos (a separate post of pics will come later), it was challenging, but also a lot of fun. I always say that our work is only as great as the couples we have a chance to work with and with Tiff and John it's definitely true. Open to anything we suggested, even in the extreme heat, they were smiling and having fun the entire day and night. Their reception was beautiful - and was personalized by so many little touches that Tiffany had worked on herself. From the 'Team Tiff & John' tote bags, t shirts, wrist bands and post cards to the maracas and bubbles their wedding definitely had that destination, 'beachy' feel. I love that on the morning of the wedding while Tiffany was enjoying her spa experience the guys were already having fun at the pool and pool bar. Seeing them both so stress-free was exactly what I had hoped for as I knew that they wanted a very laid back, relaxed feeling for everyone on their wedding day. We also shot a Trash the Dress session with Tiff and John two days after the wedding - getting up at sunrise was completely worth it. We'll also be sharing more from that here on the blog as well. For now, sit back and enjoy Tiffany and John's destination wedding highlights from the Mayan.

Music By Colbie Caillat: download it from iTunes

Adding an element of surprise to your wedding day !

We absolutely love it when our couples incorporate something different into their wedding day to make it uniquely them. Steven planned a surprise Jabbawockeez performance that he, his brother and best friend put on for Dawn and more than 500 of their closest friends and family during their reception. We appreciate how much effort went into choreographing this piece and then how much nerve it took to actually get up there and make it happen. Being there to experience it live was magical. Dawn's face, as she was mesmerized by the talent that Steven has, that she never even realized in the 7 years they have been together, was priceless. We knew that capturing their performance, and Dawn's reaction, with 3 cameras and varioius angles would enhance the finished piece and enable them to always have this moment in time to cherish as part of their wedding story. If you are planning on doing something different it's imperative to let your photography and cinematography team know so they can prepare to capture it in the best possible way. It's just too great not to share.... so please sit back, turn up your speakers and enjoy this encore performance.

Tiffany + John | from snowflakes to sunshine

One month from today these two will be headed to the warm beaches of the Mayan for their wedding celebration with over 50 of their closest friends and family. We are honoured to be a part of their travelling group and can't wait to escape the cold, damp weather we've been having for the past few months (will winter ever end?). A few weeks ago I met with Tiffany and John to capture some engagement images in downtown Toronto. It was freezing cold. It was the kind of day where your skin was completely frozen the instant you stepped outside. Somehow we still managed to have a great time and get some great images - several breaks to warm up helped a lot, and we kept talking about their destination wedding to help us forget the frigid temperatures. I adore these two - they are fun and funny - the perfect pair!

Karen + Jag | their story in pictures

When we got together with Karen and Jag for dinner just before the holidays they were telling us about the Sangeet that Jag's sister and family were planning. Karen was going to be going out shopping to find a lovely Indian outfit and Jag said he was going to wear a suit. Without hesitation I told him that if he didn't wear an Indian outfit we wouldn't come to capture the Sangeet. I think he was a bit shocked - we all laughed and then I said "seriously, if Karen is dressing up then you're dressing up - no suit I want to see the full Indian outift." At the Sangeet I told him how fantastic he looked and he admitted he was happy I 'forced' him to wear it.... well, not really forced, but strongly encouraged :) We love cultural traditions and my thought was that if you're having a Sangeet you need to look the part. I think the outfit made him a better dancer - check out his moves in their SDE.
It was about a month ago now when I got a text message from Jag. He was writing to let me know that the kennel wouldn't allow him to visit their beloved dog Tucker on the wedding day. His secret plan to surprise Karen with some clips of him and Tucker in the Same Day Edit was quashed as the kennel has strict visiting hours between 12 - 2 and we needed to visit by 10 am in order to keep the wedding day itinerary in check. Sooooo I called the kennel. I explained to the nice lady on the phone that this dog wasn't just a family pet but a true member of the family and how including him in the wedding photos and film was imperative. She said okay and agreed that we could come at ten for a short visit. It was hard to tell who was more excited - Jag or Tucker. Arriving at the hotel Jag greeted us in the lobby wearing his super hero pjs - a Christmas gift from Karen that he wasn't to wear until the wedding. I love how even though they agreed NOT to buy each other wedding gifts Jag surprised Karen with diamond earrings. As she says in the SDE - "he always has to one up me!" Here are a few photos from their wedding story which spanned 3 days - we adore this couple (and Cole and Reilly) and it was so hard to choose my favourite photos for the blog, but these bring back great memories for me and I'm sure for them, too.

Same Day Edit Reaction

As Karen and Jag are away enjoying their honeymoon in sunny Jamaica we wanted to post their reactions to their same day edit. I find it impossible to watch the couple's reactions during the actual reception viewing because I'm glued to the Same Day Edit myself. I love filming these because I always want to go back and see what parts make them laugh, tear up and smile. Same Day Edits are so great because they allow everyone to see a highlight of the wedding day, and in this case it was two 'wedding' days. We were able to really meld together their cultures and tell their complete wedding story in one song. Our couples are very special to us. We love really getting to know them and we often feel like family on the wedding day. I walked into the Sangeet and had at least a dozen people come up and ask "are you Wanda?" which means a lot. Not, are you the photographer? or even are you Studio 67? they knew my first name. I loved watching their reactions to their SDE and wanted to share them here on the blog with all of you.

two kids. one dog. four hearts. one love.

Theirs was a wedding story that I had played in my mind hundreds of times before it even happened. One so full of details, both cultural and emotional, that we couldn't wait to capture it.

The story begins with Karen, a single mother of 6 year old twins who falls in love with a colleague from work who she meets at their staff Christmas party. Jag, who has been secretly smitten with Karen for months, has been admiring her from afar. A few months after they began dating Jag was introduced to Karen's children and he told them he was a professional wrestler. A true testament to his always-joking personality. Karen is that fun-loving, girl next door with a big heart. Jag is the organizer and the planner. He is thoughtful and kind and wears his heart on his sleeve.

Their wedding story began on Thursday evening where friends and family gathered for their Sangeet. This Sikh celebration in honour of Jag's culture was something neither of them was really familiar with but they openly embraced everything about it and had such a great time. Jag's sister and family planned the entire event filled with food, dancing, music and ceremonial elements. On Saturday they were married at St. Andrew's church in Brampton followed by a beautiful reception at The Grand Victorian. Jag was presented with a ring that was worn by his late father along with a hand written note that said his dad would always be with him. Perhaps the moment that stood out to me the most was when Jag said his wedding vows to Cole and Reilly. I remember from our very first meeting with Karen and Jag that to them this was a wedding celebration of their new family and that including the kids was essential. Jag, as their new step dad, promised to love and care for them, just as he will always do for their mom. I loved that Jag and I had a secret visit with their dog Tucker planned at the boarding kennel and when Karen saw the clips of Tucker in the Same Day Edit she looked at Jag with the biggest smile. It seems he never ceases to surprise and amaze her. Their Same Day Edit really does capture THEIR story. I love that they chose us to capture and re-tell it for them. *A full post of photos coming soon!

Music: Off I Go by Greg Laswell which is available on iTunes.

Baby keep me warm ! Mel + Danny

Melanie and Danny are brave - they ventured out with me in minus 11 weather, in the wind and snow for their eSession. We drove to several nearby locations to get a mix of nature and urban backdrops in their photos and in between the 5 minute stints outside we jumped back in my CRV to keep warm. A brief stop at Timmy's for cafe mochas all around was in order and it also helped that these two are super cute and super fun together. Danny is constantly making Mel laugh and smile and I didn't once have to say 'get closer' as they were attached, keeping warm constantly. We can't wait to capture their wedding this April. Thanks for a fun afternoon guys - it was so worth braving the freezing temps to capture your engagement photos.

an impromptu snow ball fight

seeing they are getting hitched it only makes sense...

keep me warm...

making snow angels just because...
