Yesterday we 'experienced' our first Serbian / Yugoslavian wedding.  I use the word experienced purposely as it was quite a day to remember.  Andja and Mile have become great friends to us over the past 10 months and we've got together on at least 6 different occasions and talked about all the events that were going to unfold during the morning of their wedding day so we'd have an understanding of how things would play out and the significance of everything we would be capturing.  In theory it all seemed really fun and so different than most of the wedding preparations we usually see... in actuality it was complete chaos and craziness and I'm certain the word FUN isn't even close to describing what the morning was really like.  When we arrived at Andja's house the first thing we heard was "go on into the backyard and have a shot and we'll go from there", it was her uncle greeting all the guests who were arriving, the party was underway.  For Andja the morning was about the usual hair and make up but then she spent the rest of her time hiding in an upstairs bedroom so no one would see her.  she awaited the arrival of her groom and his entire entourage as they would have to barter for her.  when the bus finally arrived at her home everything was ramped up a lot!!!  At first Mile's representatives offered a couple of hundred dollars for his bride.  The received a Chihuahua dressed in a cute little tutu instead.  They then offered more money and out came a bride, but not the one Mile was hoping for.  More negotiations took place and it was agreed that Mile would receive Andja but not before shooting down an apple strung high up in the air.  His marksmanship was spot on and he hit the apple not once, but three times, determined to see his bride.  We all headed down to Niagara Falls for the ceremony and then to the Americana for the reception where everyone danced the night away.  Here is the SDE we showed during the reception and a few images from their big day.  Health, happiness and lots of joy are what we wish for you two!  We won't soon forget your special day!
